Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of paint do you use?
I use Posca brand paint pens, which are an acrylic paint marker. This means that once it dries, most weather elements will not affect it.
How long does the artwork last?
Artwork lasts 2-4 weeks with no issues. I have had some parents send me pictures of their cars several months later, but I consider these to be the best case scenarios. Rain, sprinklers, and dew will not affect the paint. Over time the sun will fade the colors, especially red, orange and yellow. The paint will come off with scratching. Do not go through the car wash, and hand washing your car instead (avoiding the painted windows).
How do I remove the paint?
Spray with Sprayway Glass Cleaner or Dawn Dish Spray, and allow the soap to sit for at least 5 minutes. Then wipe clean. If necessary, rubbing alcohol with a microfiber cloth or magic eraser will remove any stubborn bits.
Non-negotiables
All paint markers hate a hot window. It simultaneously dries out the nib while heating up the marker, which changes the paint consistency causing it to bleed. For the longest lasting, and smoothest looking application, artwork must be completed in the shade, on a clean, cool window.
I do not work on trucks with Tonneau covers of any kind, consider having your two back passenger windows painted instead.
Insider Secrets
Draw out your design first with a sharpened piece of chalk. Consider purchasing markers with a chisel tip for your letters (structured shapes), and bullet tip for your illustrations (organic shapes). Keep some rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth handy for cleaning up mistakes. Think about working from your shoulder and full arm movement instead of just your wrist and hand. To pull a clean line, pull the marker toward you while breathing out. Lastly, going slow is fast. Slow down. You got this!
